The Renascence Review

The Renascence Review is an independent publication launched in 2022 by Casper Anwar, Founding Partner of Renascence Capital. This blog is dedicated to providing insights, news and analysis, on topics spanning international finance, estates, wealth, politics, culture, and just about anything else to help nomadic professionals make less-worse decisions with their money. I'll write informative articles, reviews, market updates, point to other interesting content around the web, and sometimes just rant. I'm a British-born, China-based, US-licensed private wealth and estate adviser. At Renascence, we look after successful entrepreneurs, creatives, corporate executives, international and multigenerational families, who hold assets in multiple jurisdictions and who entrust us to oversee their international estates and investment affairs.

Prompted

common measure

An original poem, explained to make it understandable, with a life lesson to make it practical, once a week on Tuesdays at 10:30AM. Poetry as a simple guide to living. Many of our guides to living are medical, political, and financial. Those are all great things, but we need poetry too. Poetry is a tool with immense practical value, but this is often overlooked because poetry is difficult to read. Whatever its other merits are, most literary criticism does not explain poetry in simple terms. So I make poetry less intimidating, hoping that everyone can understand it. Secondly, I email you lessons learned through poetic thinking, so you can use literature as a guide to living.

You, Me, + Iced Tea

I examine modern life + work (both employed and self-employed/entrepreneurship) through a multi-disciplinary lens, sent straight to your inbox every other Wednesday. Put bluntly, I take in a metric f*ck ton of info on a regular basis, distill it down, and make it useful for you, now (with book references, always) - all presented in a casual, conversational way; like having a glass of iced tea together. Bonus: You’ll get updates about my next book (a memoir) FIRST! Be part of a community of people who share your interests - that is, understanding life + all its parts beyond the mere surface view and never-ending marketing messages. If you enjoy questions more than answers … If you feel most of what you see on social media makes you waffle between fear for the future of humanity + on the edge of rage … If you nerd out on curiosity-fueled conversations, science references, + good beverages, you’re in the right place.

HopeMail

Life musings and a new drawing to brighten your inbox, twice a month. Twice a month on Fridays, I write and draw what’s on my mind lately about life, deriving insights from the ordinary mundane to the difficult days. In each issue you’ll find: ~Art (drawing, poetry). There’ll always be a new drawing. Making it 24 drawings in a year. We started counting down from November 2021. And we’ll complete 24 new drawings for HopeMail on October 2022. ~Personal essays. ~Curated inspiring quotes related to the post. ~Occasionally, I’ll include: questions to ponder, curated excerpts from books or the web, links, and further readings related to the post. ~GIFs. Because I like GIFs. 😀

Z’s 3-in-3

The Deleted Scenes

The built environment is in some ways the most fundamental issue there is. It’s the physical setting of, well, everything. Yet many people don’t give it much thought, and zoning and urban planning can feel wonky, even irrelevant. Urbanism is also frequently coded as a “left-wing” area of concern, reinforcing an urban-rural or urban-suburban culture war. This newsletter is all about pushing past these impressions and stereotypes, and conveying urbanism and the physical design of our places as a practical, human, and broad concern.

I’ve Ben Thinking

I’ve Ben Thinking is a blog newsletter from me, Ben Testani. I try to publish two times a week. I cover topics facing the youngest generation, Gen Z, trying to bring a fresh leftist perspective to the issues we face.

I’ve Ben Thinking is written and edited by me. It was launched in December of 2020.

I started IBT for two reasons. One is because I was tired of thinking to myself “I could do that” whenever I read a great blog post or watched an informative YouTube video and wanted to prove to myself that yes, I can do that. The second reason is that writing is fun.
